Located in Corning, California, a small agricultural town about 2 hours north of Sacramento, The Mustang Project is a  501 (3) c organization, and relies on donations to keep the program going.  We do not receive any funding from the government, we do not charge anyone to participate in the program, and all work is done on a volunteer basis.

There are currently two BLM Mustangs and a mini-mule being used for the program.

Message from the founder:

I consider myself fortunate in that I have worked with animals, and have had pets, most of my life.  Those of you that have had pets know how much they enrich our lives.

I have been fascinated with horses since I was seven years old, but it would be thirty years before I would be in a position to actually care for one.  After much research, I adopted a BLM Mustang, and my life has never been the same.  The experience of taking a wild animal, and with a little patience, transform that animal into a trusting and loyal companion is beyond words.

It is this experience I would like to share, because I believe the Horse, like all animals, has more to teach us than we could ever teach them.  The Mustang Project is about kids transforming horses while being transformed themselves.

You can help make it possible.
